Run Balance
Overview
Run Balance is your execution quota - it’s consumed every time you run a tool or agent on Rival. It’s separate from your Wallet, which is your withdrawable cash balance.

View and manage your Run Balance at cortexone.rival.io/user/billings - the Run Balance card in the Overview tab shows your current quota and a Top Up button.
The two buckets
Run Balance is made up of two buckets:
Expirable
Granted from:
- Your plan’s monthly allotment (refilled each renewal)
- Welcome Credits ($10 after phone verification - see Welcome Credits)
- Promotional credits
Expirable balance has an expiry date. Unused amounts are removed at expiry.
Non-expirable
Granted from:
- Top Ups - funds moved from your Wallet (or purchased directly) into Run Balance
- Manual grants
Non-expirable balance stays in your account through plan changes and cancellations.
When Run Balance is consumed
Every tool or agent execution debits Run Balance. The amount depends on the tool’s run cost (compute + any tool fee set by its creator). Each charge is recorded in the Transactions tab with status, payment method label, and date.
Top Up vs Add Funds
These two actions are easy to confuse - they live on different cards in Overview:
- Top Up (Run Balance card) - moves funds from your Wallet into Run Balance, or buys Run Balance directly with a card. Used when you need more execution quota.
- Add Funds (Wallet card) - deposits money into your Wallet. Used when you want cash sitting in your Wallet for later Top Ups or withdrawals.
How to Top Up
- Open cortexone.rival.io/user/billings
- On the Overview tab, click Top Up on the Run Balance card
- Choose to fund from your Wallet or pay with a card
- Confirm - the amount lands in your non-expirable bucket immediately
When Run Balance is empty
When your Run Balance hits zero and you try to run a tool or agent, the request returns a 402 Payment Required response and the run is blocked. Your tools, agents, and data are untouched - only execution is paused.
To unblock yourself:
- Top Up the Run Balance card (fastest)
- Upgrade your plan for a larger monthly allotment
- Add Funds to your Wallet first, then Top Up from there
