Agent Subscriptions

Overview

An agent subscription lets you sell a published agent on the marketplace for a monthly or yearly price, instead of a one-time adoption fee. Buyers pay by card, and get their own copy of the agent in their organization for as long as the subscription runs. Every update you publish is included.

An agent is sold one way only - either a one-time adoption fee or a subscription.

For creators: selling a subscription

  1. Open the agent’s Publish panel and publish it to the marketplace (Public).

  2. Under pricing, choose Subscription instead of One-time adoption fee. If the agent already has an adoption fee, set it to $0 first.

  3. Fill in the Subscription pricing card:

    • Individual · 1 user - a Monthly price (required) and an optional Annual price.
    • Team · shared workspace (optional) - switch on Offer a Team tier, then set the number of Seats (2 to 100), a Team monthly price, and an optional Team annual price.
  4. Click Save. Pricing takes effect when you publish.

Prices are in USD, up to $10 a month and $120 a year per user. A Team tier can charge up to that per seat. Buyers don’t need a paid Rival plan.

The org Owner, an Admin, or the agent’s creator can set pricing.

What you earn

You receive 85% of each subscription payment; Rival keeps 15%. Your share is added to your earnings, and paid out on the Payouts schedule. See Monetization.

Taking an agent off sale

If you remove the agent’s last public listing, every subscriber is set to cancel at the end of their current billing period and gets an email. They keep using their copy until then, and aren’t charged again.

For buyers: subscribing to an agent

Only an org Owner or Admin can buy a subscription. You can’t subscribe to an agent your own organization publishes.

  1. On the agent’s marketplace listing, click Subscribe, or pick a tier under Subscribe to agent name:

    • Individual - 1 user, your own private workspace.
    • Team - up to the listed number of users, sharing one workspace.
    • Enterprise - Book a call to arrange custom terms.
  2. Under Choose a plan, pick Monthly or Annual. Enter a Promo code if you have one and click Apply.

  3. Click Complete checkout and pay by card through Stripe.

  4. You’re taken to a confirmation page while your copy of the agent is set up in your organization. This takes a few seconds.

Subscriptions are charged to your card, not your Run Balance. There’s no free trial - use the listing’s trial chat to try the agent before you buy.

Seats

The person who buys the subscription always has a seat. On a Team subscription, an Owner or Admin assigns the other seats from the agent’s subscription settings.

Members without a seat see “You don’t have a seat on this agent yet. Ask your organization owner to add you.” If every seat is taken, remove someone before adding another.

Managing a subscription

Find your subscriptions in Settings → Billing (/user/billings) on the Agent subscriptions card, or in the agent’s own settings drawer.

Each subscription shows its status:

StatusMeaning
Renews dateActive, and will renew on that date
Cancels on dateCancelled; you keep access until that date
Past dueThe last payment failed - update your card
Checkout not completedCheckout was started but not paid
CanceledEnded

From the agent’s subscription settings you can:

  • Upgrade to Team or Switch to Individual. The change is prorated to the card on file.
  • Manage Seats on a Team subscription.
  • Cancel, or Keep subscription / Resubscribe to undo a cancellation.

Cancelling

Cancelling takes effect at the end of the current billing period - you keep access until then and aren’t charged again. Changed your mind before that date? Resume it and it keeps renewing, with no new charge.

For an Individual subscription, the org Owner or the person who bought it can cancel. For a Team subscription, any Owner or Admin can.

Once a subscription ends, chatting with the agent shows “Your subscription to … has ended. Resubscribe to keep using it.”

If a payment fails

If a renewal charge fails, the subscription is marked Past due and you’re asked to update your card (“Your card was declined. Update your payment method to continue.”). You keep access until the end of the paid period.
