Inviting Members

You can invite anyone to join your organization by email. Invited members receive an email with a link to accept or decline. Only Owners and Admins can send invitations.

Sending an invitation

  1. Go to Settings → Workspace → Members
  2. In the Invite New Members section, enter one or more email addresses separated by commas
  3. Select the role to assign
  4. Click Invite

An email is sent to each address with a link to the consent page. Invitation links expire after 24 hours.

Roles you can assign

RoleWho can invite
MemberOwners and Admins
AdminOwners and Admins

Each organization has exactly one Owner — the person who created it. The Owner role cannot be assigned via invitation.

You can also set a default role for new invitations from the Members settings page. New invitations will use this role unless you change it per invite.

What the invited person sees

The invitee receives an email:

“{Organization name} has invited you to join their organization on Rival.io as a {role}. Do you want to accept this invitation?”

They can click Accept Invitation or Decline. The link is valid for 24 hours.

If they already have a Rival account — they are added to your organization immediately.

If they are new to Rival — an account is created for them automatically and they receive a welcome email with their login credentials.

Managing invitations

All sent invitations are listed in Settings → Workspace → Members. From there you can:

  • Resend — send the invitation email again (available for pending and expired invitations)
  • Edit role — change the role before the invitee accepts
  • Delete — remove the invitation

Admins and Owners see the full list with the inviter’s name, timestamp, and current status. Members see a simplified view of accepted invitations only.

Validation rules

  • You cannot invite someone who is already a member of your organization
  • You cannot invite someone with an existing pending invitation (use Resend instead)
  • You cannot invite yourself
  • Only one referrer per user — invitations do not affect referral attribution
